Remit2India Service Review

Couple of my colleagues had very bad service experience with Remit2India. Their main complaints are:
1) First one didn't get the rate promised by the website. She understand that rate depend on the date on which money gets cleared. During the entire duration of the transaction, site showed the rate no lower than 48.50 however he got the rate of 47.75. This seems like downright fraud. Also it took around 10 days for the transaction to complete which is very slow.

2) Second one had very bad experience with the customar service. He tried to cancel the transaction. Person on the phone asked him to send email. They never replied to email(s). He called again and was told that they are creating a ticket. Next time my friend called, person didn't know anything about the ticket. My friend is very unhappy with the service.

From these two references it seems remit2India is not a service to use. If you have used remit2india, please share your experince.

I did not have terrible experiences with remit2inda on timing. On most occasstions my account in India got credited in 5-7 days.

My biggest gripes with them are customer service and exchange rates. After you start a transaction, they absolutely don't provide customer service over phone. Whoever answers the call just says "please send an e-mail to info@remit2india.com". Solving problems via e-mail is great if they can reply in 10 minutes but they guarantee response is 48 hours which is absolutely GREAT!!! Precious time is lost adding to the fact the amount of stress we face when we transfer big amounts.

In recent times I don't think their exchange rates have been competitive. The exchange rates they give are also >50 paise below prevailing rates published by RBI. They lack transparency in that aspect. They should provide the "date and time of conversion" and "conversion rate" if they are being straight in their transactions. I am now looking at other options to send money to India.

Hi,
Even I have same experience from icici, the exchange rate i got is .80 less than what RBI's published rate and the customer service sucks, when i asked the oncall representative to connect me to the supervisor, she simply said, the lines are busy and unable to connect to him/her. The main thing was she really didn't wanted to try to connect.....
I am looking for alternate option, icici is not willing to provide the transaction details and customer service is worst....

The post & comments are really helpful. I should have read this before I signed up with remit2india & transferred money. I am absolutely disgusted with the service they provided. And this is first time I am sending money through them. It’s almost 15 days and they have not yet credited money back home. I guess these guys are waiting for the rates to go down. And I agree with one of the commentator’s, the customer service is good for nothing. They can only say “your money will be transferred in 24hrs & our back-end team is working on it”. I even mailed info@remit2india, there are to get back to me in 48 hrs. These guys suck big time.

I hope they will reply.

Hi All,

This is my own experience.

I booked a money transfer request with the BIGGEST FRAUD company Remit2India.

They not only gave me Rs 1.63 less on exchange rate but also did not transfer the complete amount (as per their own calculations).

Repeated inquiries on phone were answered by Srikant / Shiraz asking me to send the snapshot of bank statement on info@remit2india.com.

I have sent the snapshot more than 20 times and yet there is no response.

Never trust Remit2India.

Quite helpful reviews and feedbacks.. I am planning to do my first transaction .. I opened an account with Remit2India and Money2India .. Now I am planning to drop my idea to transfer money thru Remit2India .. I am looking for an option of "Fixed Exchange Rate" where we can get a commitment that money will be transfer at a particular exchange rate no matter what is the exchange rate at the time of transfer, I think we have this facility available

Absolutely true that Remit 2 india is the bioggest cheat with respect to exchange rates and gift options that they use to promote during the festival times. The service sucks bigtime and would suggest not to use the service. Its better to use any other service.

I would happily give to beggers if they want little money and definitely dont want to give it to the cheaters like this. Its worser than begging.

I had a similar bad experience with ICICI Bank. It apperas that they take a long time for the Money2India transaction so that they can hold your money and give you as low an exchange rate as possible.
I am very disasppointed in them

I had the worst experience with Remi2india. I used them for 5 years & I wanted to transfer $91000 & it took them 10 days to tell me they cannot transfer for some internal policy reasons. They wanted me to transfer in small amts so that they can give me lower rate. They ripped me off 17 paise per $. It adds up. They never called back when i kept sending emails. DO NOT USE this company to transfer. After being a customer for 5 years, I am very disappointed. I wasted 2 weeks tranferring & still not help on their end. I would rather use ICICI

I totally agree with you guys about remit2india. Never do business with them. They cheated me over the exchange rate that was offered and agonized me to make the transaction happen. Doesn't stop there, will keep getting marketing calls from them.

Thanks to you all. I just opened an account with remit2india to pay my EMI. We work hard and save each and every penny, these companies never even bothered to transfer as they say. Thank you for writing your experience. Will find out a way to pay off my EMI.

Thanks...

I initiated a transfer (as i have done many times before) on Feb 19th 2012. It is March 6th and the transaction is still in clearing.
This is unacceptable. What are they waiting for? The exchange rate to get better for them?
I have transferred several times using other services like ICICI, HDFC etc. and this one is by far the worst.
Definitely do not recommend this site and I will not be using this again. This transaction was meant to be a gift for a family member and not only will it not reach in time, but it is also horribly embarrassing to put up with.
Thank a lot Remit2India for making a mess!

I had booked a transaction with you Remit2India on 27th May 2012 and its 30th may 2012 today. The status of the transaction is still "In Clearing". Its been 4 days and transaction is still pending to be cleared????
I have noticed (and this is third time it happened with me) that on times when the exchange rates are higher remit2India always plays these tricks and try to hold the transactions. The last two times it happened and I contacted their customer care I was given an excuse that there are some KYC norms and you guys need to call me. It took your cell 3-4 days to make a call to call me. Then again 2 days to start transfer of the amount. This ensured the rates dropped down to lower and transaction was processed.

This never happened with me when I transferred during lower rates. Can they explain this please???

Absolutely sure I am shifting my service provider to someone else. Anyone in this group here has a suggestion to make about whom should I choose.

I feel so unlucky after reading these reviews. I recently opened an account with remit2india.They say its a short process but it took six to seven business day for the account verification and they said once the account is verified I am ready to send money to India and the money will be transferred in 3-4 business day. Well I wanted to send money in a day or two so I had to send money thru Western Union. While opening my account they have been calling me regularly in order to make me transfer the money thru them. So part of it I tried to send money on 23rd of May as I was told by some of their customer representative that it will take 3-4 buisness day for the transaction once my bank account is approved.
Its 29th May and one guy from remit2india called me and now he is saying the money will be deposited on 4th may. I got really mad at him and again he said it will be delivered on 1st may. This is all bullshit. If I would have known that I have to go through all these kind of hassles i would never done any business through them. Hope this will help someone.

I will look for Xoom now

I am having terrible experience with them. This company is fraud. IS there any way to file a class action on them?

worst customer service, i am not going to use this any more, they told verification and not yet call to confirm and delaying my transaction, i cancelled that and booked through money2india.
i will not recommend to my friends Remit2india for money transfer.

This is a fraud company. They take longest time for remittance. But in between if they get lower rate , they complete the transaction. Their motive is to give you minimum possible rate. Please try for yourself. The exchange rate which you will get will be much lower than their advertised rate on their website,. They lure you by showing good rates and then give you 30-40 paise less for every dollar. Stay away from them. Also, they are the only ones whose telemarketers will call you repeatedly to convince you to transfer money. No one else does so. They used to offer fixed rate money transfer also but they stopped because its in their blood to cheat. They cant play it fair. Try them 2 times and you will know for yourself if you pay attention.

Dont ever transfer money threw remit to india mine took 2 weeks.. They always buy time and debit money when transfer rate is at the lowest...

Try XOOM, I had good experience with them. And customer service is awesome.

Remit2India is the worst service from a reputed company like TIMES OF INDIA group. Not sure if the top executives take the customer complaints seriously or just enjoy the money they make with the lowest exchage rate they give to the customers.

Thanks for the info guys. I need to transfer money to India. Based on what I hear I think it might be a good idea to avoid remit2India.

could anyone please suggest me to transfer a good amount of AUD to INR with good rate(fixed/variable)? I am fine if it takes 7-10 days. I have used services from money2india by icici bank with which I had good experiences in the past, but their service is unavailable from Australia since December 2012 until further notice. Which service would give me a higher exchange rate if I have a NRE/NRO a/c in India? SBI doesnt have services for AUD. thanks for the info on remit2india, I wont go with them after reading the reviews. Any reviews for OZforex, affgroup, yes bank? Much appreciated..thanks.

I should never send my hard earned money through them, This is bullshit, irks my nerves. Hope somebody gets the balls to sue them.

Good that I have read these reviews as I have just registered and was planning to send money once the account gets activiated. I wont be using this service after reading these reviews. Yet to find a service like Money2India or Axis bank transfer which were very reliable until they got closed. Please advise if you know any others.

I work with a major software company in India and our company had emailed all US based employees about remit2india offers. In Xoom, I had limits of transfers per 180 days. Hence I thought i would use this. By stroke of luck, i came across this review page and several other reviews which are all unanimous in highlighting their deplorable service. I will safely use xOOM or Money2India.

I wonder though about the remit2India representative responding here.

FIX YOUR SYSTEM, BEFORE COMING TO FORUMS TO ASK THE CUSTOMERS TO SEND EMAIL TO YOUR ESCALATION EMAIL ID.

Thankfully got a look at this review. Just registered with remit2india but will NOT going to use this service and even suggest my colleques not to use that! Think.. A Remit2India representative is also following this blog & unable to even solve/help/comment on a single compliant! They are not even concerned of their image getting spoiled and bad word is spreading about their service ..this shows how careless attitude they have towards their customers.!

Anonymous said...

The absolute worst that is out there..Dont know if these guys could have any dumber customer care executives for handling phone calls. Sadly as a customer you need to call those morons quite a few times and the most painful is when you make your first tramsaction and wait endlessly for the retards to call you to confirm your details.

I tried remit2india only when the service offered by SBI was not working for me..I thought its a good name of times, so let me try but it only works for me once...even though I didn’t get the exchange rate what they offered online...I would say they are biggest cheaters...they also have very bad practice of compliance call and they are just unprofessional guys who are managing our hard work earned money..now you can just imagine how safe our money in these bunch of idiots...I just tried remit2india for a second time in 3 years, and it is in hold in compliance check..I just lost my chance of getting good exchange rate...I hate Remit2India..

Don't use remit2India..
Customer service is worst

guys use XOOM
I don't say they are great not are their exchange rates competitive

But , when in stress I call their customer service and they respond and money transfer happens 2 to 3 business days MAX

Intiate a transaction after a little long time and it sits in "Under Compliance Verification" for weeks together. The funny thing is it is a blackhole for the customer support guys.Absolutely no access to these so called Compliance verification team not sure if there any dedicated one.No escalation process and no one available to take responsibility to see whether the verficication actually reachout tot he customer.

Anonymous said...

Indeed the worst customer service I've come across. Unbelievable wait times. Their KYC pending calls are at unreasonable hours and from spam numbers. 2 weeks and counting now and the transaction is still in clearing. KYC calls hang up or don't speak a single word. Never using their service again. I would rather pay my banks international transfer fees.

Worst service ever: Remit2India

Difference of 8000/- They are making money by cheating people like us.
I am really upset with their fraudulent
service. They advise to send an email rather than calling coz they can't give the exact dates when they will be crediting the recipient account.
Worst remit2india.

There are many sites available to transfer money to India, But Transferwise and Ria money as they pay the maximum with very good service. You can compare with sites like compateremit.com and Inr2day
